REMINISCES OF "COLLEGETIMES"
"When I first heard of the College Times Cafe (Block D, Hwa Chong Institution) ... I was intrigued. I had never studied in the Bukit Timah campus and I was a member of Collegetimes (a magazine by Hwa Chong Junior College) when in Bukit Batok.
"I was pulled into the club by my then classmate though the club was known to be for the arts students ... He assured me that we just needed to do illustrations, layout and graphic work. So I joined. I didn't even attended any meeting as I was kind of a freelance graphic artist. Most of my time was with canoeing. I was just as surprised when I got my HCJC transcript as I had forgotten about being a member of Collegetimes." – Lai San, class of 89S26
Collegetimes v. 4, no. 1 (1987) is available for online reading at the NLB website.
IN PICTURES: 45 KILOMETRES FOR HCJC'S 45TH-ANNIVERSARY!
On 30 Nov 2019, a group gathered at 6.30am at Expo MRT station. Drawn from across 45 batches of Hwa Chong JC alumni and members of Hwa Chong's Parents Support Group, they met to walk 45-km for HCJC's 45th anniversary! The journey took them along canals, business parks and new towns, through forest and reservoir, finally ending (with cramps and blisters) at 6.30pm in Hwa Chong Institution. The brave walkers were warmly greeted by a welcome party (5km-walkers to Botanic Gardens) and sunset BBQ. Follow their 12-hour journey on the HCJC Alumni 45-km Big Walk photo album and Facebook Group!
